Step 1
Match the applicant to an ICA category
Read ICA's current application page and identify the category that describes the applicant's present facts. The relevant question is whether a published route may apply, not which profile sounds strongest.
- Employment Pass or S Pass status: verify the pass and applicant conditions.
- Family-linked route: identify the relationship and principal or sponsoring person.
- Student route: verify the current student circumstances in ICA's student guidance.
- Another category: use ICA's wording rather than an unofficial label or calculator.
Step 2
Record the fact that supports the category
Make a route check that can be verified: note the current pass or status, relationship or student circumstance, and the person who is applying. Use the exact names and dates shown in the source records.
- Write down the category and the official page used to verify it.
- Mark any status, relationship or identity fact that still needs confirmation.
- Do not treat a category match, profile score or anecdote as an ICA decision.
Step 3
Move from the check to the right guide
Once the category is clear, stop using this page and continue with the guide for your next task. The application and document pages cover preparation; the process page covers what follows submission.
