Route
Confirm whose status creates the published route
A spouse application must be assessed against the current ICA category and the status of the sponsoring or principal spouse. Confirm who may apply, who may be included and whether the instructions require additional information.
Marriage or a spouse relationship can establish a route to apply where ICA's guidance says so. It does not guarantee that the application will be approved.
Relationship evidence
Tell the factual relationship story consistently
Use the official civil-status records and other documents requested by ICA. Check names, dates, prior status and household details across both spouses' records, and explain legitimate discrepancies rather than editing them away.
The purpose is accurate evidence, not a performance. Do not stage activities, copy another couple's statement or claim facts that cannot be supported.
Household planning
Coordinate status and next steps
Keep the applicant's current pass or stay status valid and monitor official communications. If the relationship, address or employment situation changes during review, check the ICA instructions for how to update the record.
